Turmeric (Yellow) Rice

One of our readers requested a recipe for Turmeric rice. I don't really do anything elaborate to make yellow rice but here is what I do when I make a curry and wants this yellow rice as a side dish. It's pretty straightforward and easy to make. Enjoy!

Ingredients

2 cups uncooked Basmati Rice
1 teaspoon ground Turmeric
1 Bay Leaf (optional)
1 teaspoon Salt (or to taste)
3 cups Water

Procedure

Rinse the rice twice and drain well. Place in a saucepan or rice cooker. Stir in the ground Turmeric and salt. Insert 1 Bay leaf. Add about 3 cups of water. If using a rice cooker, follow the manufacturer's instruction. If using the stove top, bring to a boil, cover and simmer until the rice is cooked and quite dry about 15-18 minutes. Let it sit for a few minutes (10 minutes). Fluff the rice with a fork. Serve with your favorite dish or curry! Enjoy!
