Hey Abby -- I would be honoured to do a guest post, any excuse to cook up a storm!
I've still got lots of wild yeast starter sitting around (mainly because I can't get myself to just toss them away) so I was thinking something like sesame seed and green onion pancakes or egg pancake that are very popular in East asia.
Hi Jen! Thanks for your response! That sounds wonderful, looking forward to it! Whenever you are ready, please let me know. You can perhaps send me a copy of the post by email, maybe an HTML file or I can also cut and paste whatever you send. If you don't mind while you are preparing for the pancake, do you mind sending me your post on the congee? I can do that for your first guest post and then later when you are done, the egg pancake. Thanks again!
Hi there Abby - so it looks like the egg pancake has become a ginger sesame seeds noodle strings dish. The name is long and confusing but it's actually really simple. My wild yeast starter wasn't looking too happy for a pancake (they decided to brew beer - a STRONG beer), so I went for the next best thing, some noodles cooked very simply. It's one of those dishes my mom taught me that heals the body and replenishes blood - especially during a woman's monthly time.
Would you still be interested in using that as a guest post?
Yes! The noodle dish sounds good. Any noodle dish is always welcome. Thanks Jen, send the html as usual and will post it sometime next week. Have a great week!
I saw your post on foodbuzz.com for a chicken recipe with paprika sauce. I'm going to have to try that out sometime--the combination of chicken and paprika seems tasty :) By the way, do you have any recommendations for cold noodle dishes? I have a blog of my own (http://thenoodleguy.com) that's all about noodles yet I don't have enough posts relating to dry noodle dishes. Any suggestions would be awesome!
Hi Vernon! Glad you like the chicken in paprika sauce, hope you enjoy it when you have it! Unfortunately, in the Philippines, we only have hot noodle recipes....at least as far as I know, I think cold noodles are more indigenous to China or Korea perhaps. I wish we had cold noodle recipes 'cause I love them especially in Salads. A friend of mine uses those ramen noodles in packets that you can buy from grocery stores and then mixes it with some coleslaw using the seasoning packet from the noodles as well. Something like that. Sorry, that's all I have for now. But I do have a good recipe for hot noodles - called Pansit - it's the Philippine national noodle dish. You may want to check that out. Hope I was more helpful. :-( Will be checking out your site. Thanks!
Thanks for getting back to me! I appreciate the insight and the advice. I actually have one post on my blog that has a recipe for Sontanghon Noodle Soup--my friend made it for me and it was quite delicious :) The suggestion for the ramen noodles with coleslaw seems interesting--will probably try that and perhaps post about it. Anyways, again, thanks for the response and hope to hear from you again!
Hi Abby, Im recently reading your blog. I would like to ask if you recommend any Filipino dishes for birthday. Im trying to prepare a birthday party for this one person since he was born in Manila. Waiting for your respond. :))

Hi Abby! I was browsing for a pumpkin cupcake recipe and found your blog. I just wana know where do you usually buy canned pumpkin? Ive checked Gourdo's but theyre out of stock. Appreciate if you could help me find these canned pumpkins. Thanks sooo much! :)
Hi Abigail We were so excited when we stumbled across your blog - we have such happy memories of meals eaten together here in South Africa. Do you remember the cheesecake that you made for us? We have dubbed it 'Abigail's Cheesecake'and everyone enjoys it so much and they usually ask for the recipe! LOVELY Blog :) Delmarie
Hello Delmarie! I can't tell you how happy I am to see you here. We miss you all and can't wait to visit again. So glad you are enjoying the cheesecake to this day and in case you didn't see it yet I do have a new one that's no bake and easier to make. Mark sends his greetings so please send our love to everyone and it was great to see Laura and Wilhelm last summer, too.
Hi Abby, My son is in MN visiting with his girlfriend who is from the Philippines. I was so happy to see your site and recipes. Both my son and I have had cancer, so we are always looking for ways to get more tasty veggies. I went on line ot buy the flexible muffin tray, but it was $119!! Does your friend who sells them have a web site? Any cheaper? Thanks so much for your information. You seem very nice and a great cook. Roanne
Hi Roanne! My friend doesn't do that anymore and I have stopped my demarle shop on the blog so I am sorry that I don't have anyone to recommend at the moment. The best would be to find a demarle representative in your area - I know they have a facebook page - perhaps you can ask them through that. Perhaps they can refer a consultant near where you are. Thanks for asking and hope you enjoy the recipes here.
