Just 5 minutes to make this tasty side dish full of buttery, lemony goodness and extra crunch from Almonds! Sautéed Green Beans with Lemon and Almonds

I am grateful that my kids love to eat vegetables or at least are willing to try new vegetable dishes which is why I try to look for new recipes so they don't get tired of the same old fare. The other day I got some haricots verts instead of the usual green beans. Haricots verts are also called French green beans - they look like the regular green beans but with thinner edible pods and smaller seeds. Nonetheless, despite seeming smaller than their bigger green bean cousins - they are more intense in flavor and taste. Well, at least according to my taste buds!! :)

We are at the peak of Zucchini season and it would certainly be hard to miss these tasty summer squash. They are everywhere from the Farmer's market to your favorite grocery and yes, of course, in your neighbor's vegetable garden! In our house when I have already baked 3 Zucchini breads in a row in less than a week, then you can be sure it truly is zucchini season!

No Churn Lemon Cheesecake Ice Cream

My whole family agrees - this is the best Ice Cream I have ever made. Sweet-tangy and deliciously creamy is this Lemon Cheesecake Ice Cream. No need for an ice cream maker!

This post was meant to be published last month when the blazing summer sun was in all its glory. However, since we were on a holiday break certain adjustments had to be made. Since we regularly feature photographic travel journals in the blog as well, I decided to devote the month of  August to that and I think it worked out well as I managed to actually finish all the travel posts pretty much within the time frame. Hurrah!!! If you wish to see these posts, you can find them here.

Coconut Lemon Bars

Of late I have been having some Coconut obsession of some sort. That means I crave anything coconut and love to incorporate coconut in any recipe I think it may be suitable. Of course, there are a gazillion recipes for Lemon bars and using coconut in it is probably not a novel idea but it just popped into my mind last week when I was contemplating on what to do with the bag of lemons I bought from the grocery. This was when the brilliant idea of adding coconut to the mix came into my mind.

Cranberry Orange Bread with Lemon Glaze

Cranberry season has finally arrived! Now I am getting a bit excited because I know that the Christmas holidays are just around the corner. I can even tune in to one radio station where we live and there I can hear Christmas songs already as they have started playing Christmas carols since November 1. Yes, you read it right. I know you may think it's a little early to play Christmas carols in November - after all there's still Thanksgiving to celebrate before the Christmas season, but for me it's no problem at all.

Dilled Baked Cod with Lemon and Olive Oil

It's nearly midnight in Michigan but only quarter to eleven here at Chicago, it being an hour behind. We are here in Chicago to apply for my Schengen visa. Great to be in the city again though we have no time for sight-seeing. This is really more of a business trip rather than for pleasure.

Baked Apples in White Wine (Mele al forno)

Ever since I made the Baked Pears in white wine recipe, I have been quite in-love with fruits baked in wine! They are a great way to make fruity desserts that are relatively lower in fat than those which are bathed in cream and sugar. It's truly delicious, too!

This time I tried using apples instead of pears and I baked them in a spiced wine sauce - Italian style!
